Bobby T. Underwood, age 79, of Greeneville, Kentucky returned to his Heavenly Home on September 19, 2016 after a valiant battle with illness. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him and his family through this struggle and gave each of them a peace that passes all understanding.
Bobby was born to the late Aubrey and Cora May (Nee Lanthan) Underwood of Kentucky on February 20, 1937. He was immersed in the Christian Community and that would be his lifelong support even until his last days. Bobby was a veteran of the United States Army and a retiree from Inland Steel in Gary, IN. Following his Army Career, Bobby became an Elder andSunday School Teacher serving in the Portage and Hobart Church of God's for more than 40 years. He continued his service to the Lord when relocating to Kentucky where he was a member of the Central City Church of God in Central City, Kentucky.
Bobby was blessed with an ever growing family whom He enjoyed spending time with. Though retired, Bobby never stopped working and would fill his days with gardening and woodworking.
He was a loving Husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years Deloris of Hobart; two daughters, Jenny (Keith) Boltze and Lisa (Dr. Dale) Combs; four grandchildren, Dalisha (Josh) Carter, Dale (Shannon) Combs, Adrian (Angel) Morganstern, and Ian; five ½ great-grandchildren, Micah, Gabrien, Ellanie, Zachary, Macie Rae, and one on the way; two brothers, Larry and Wendell; three sisters, Carolyn Shelia and Laura and many more nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Cora May (Nee Lanthan) Underwood; four sisters, Anna, Rita, Sue, and Donna; four brothers, Joe Ben, Freddy, Jimmy and Roger.
A Memorial Homegoing Celebration will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Jubilee Worship Center, 415 N. Hobart Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342 with Rev. Dr. Dale P. Combs officiating. Memorial Visitation will be from 5:00-6:00 pm prior to the service at the Church.
