Bonney Worthington, age 79 of Crown Point, Indiana passed away Wednesday, March 27,2013 at Chicagoland Christian Village in Crown Point. She was born on September 3,1933 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Jerry G. and Katherine J. (nee Benyei) Curtner. Bonney was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Gary where she married the love of her life Edward M. Worthington on May 30, 1952. Bonney retired in 1996 from Northlake and Southlake Methodist Hospitals where she worked as an Administrative Assistant. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Olive Chapter #396, Daughters of the Nile, member and past queen of Aretas and a life member and past queen of Jobs Daughters, Bethel # 30.
Bonney is survived by her husband of 60 yrs. Edward; son, Gerald Edward (Gloria) Worthington of Selma, Alabama; sister, Cathie (Roger) Billhardt of Sherriville; 3 grandchildren, Tara Lynn (Adam) Sasser, Michelle Renne (John) Hamstra and Jason Edward Worthington and 6 great grandchildren, Adeline, John Michael, Nicholas, Carson, Greyson and Harper. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Elizabeth Janci.In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children would be appreciated, 2211 North Oak Park Avenue, Chicago, IL 60635.
A memorial service for Bonney will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Hamstra officiating. A memorial visitation will be held, Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 1-2 p.m. with a Daughters of the Nile service and an Order of the Eastern Star service at 2:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Winfield Chapel, 10909 Randolph St., Winfield/Crown Point, IN 46307.
