BONNIE KATHERINE SCHWARTZ, age 76, of Lake Station, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026. Born on September 27, 1949, in Sarasota, Florida, Bonnie moved through life with a warm spirit and a heart that always knew how to nourish others.

Bonnie’s love for cooking was one of her greatest gifts. In the elementary school cafeteria where she worked for many years, she wasn’t just a head cook — she was a quiet source of comfort. Every meal she prepared carried a touch of home, a bit of kindness, and her own gentle way of caring for the children who passed through her line. Cooking was her language of love, and she spoke it beautifully.

She found her deepest joy in the autumn season. She adored the rustle of falling leaves, the soft golds and reds that painted the world, and the familiar comfort of her favorite turtlenecks. Autumn matched her spirit: warm, steady, and quietly vibrant. As the seasons turned, she tended her garden with the same devotion she offered to people — nurturing, patient, and full of hope. She loved her hats, each one adding a small flourish to her independent, unmistakable style. Bonnie lived life on her terms, with a spark that made her unforgettable.

She is survived by her children, Terry (Song) Wickham and Michele (Vasko) Cacovski; her grandchildren, Michael (MacKenzie) Cacovski, Marija (Michael) Kemna, Katherina (Luke) Wuchenich, and Tanya Wickham; and her great-grandchildren, Layla, Lilliana, Luka, Quinn, and Thomas. She also leaves behind her brother, Robert (Diana) Knight; and many other family members and dear friends who carry her memory tenderly.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Murray Schwartz; her parents, Robert Knight and Sallie Sutton; and her sister, Debbie Knight.

Per her wishes, services were private. She was laid to rest at McCool Cemetery in Portage — a peaceful resting place, surrounded by the quiet beauty she so loved.

Her life was a tapestry of simple joys, strong will, warm meals, and autumn days. She will be missed beyond measure, remembered not only for what she did, but for the way she made people feel: cared for, welcomed, and loved.
