Bruce Demmond, age 83, of Portage, Indiana passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018 at his home. He was born on November 24, 1934 to the late Hall and Ruth Ann Demmond in Gary, Indiana. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Bruce married the love of his life, Jacquelyn R. Wilds on August 29, 1956 and retired from E.J. &E Railroad where he worked as a switchman. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Bruce is survived by his loving family: wife, Jacquelyn Demmond; two sons, Timothy (Jennifer) Demmond  of Kalamazoo, MI and John (Suzanne) Demmond of Hebron, IN; two daughters, Deb (Steve) Massow and Denise  Cannon both of Portage; twelve grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren;  sister, Nancy Myers of Valparaiso; sister in law, Mary Lou Demmond  of Titusville, FL.

Bruce was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Ann Dietrich; two brothers, Jack and Douglas Demmond and sister, Jane Smith.

A funeral service for Bruce will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Rees Funeral Home Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. A visitation for Bruce  will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 also at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, Portage ,Indiana.
