Bruce David Shimel

Bruce David Shimel, age 69 of Lake Station, Indiana passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019 at his home.  Bruce was born February 2, 1950 in Gary, Indiana to the late Albert C. and Delores (nee Lambert) Shimel Sr. On October 18, 1969 Bruce married the love of his life, Sharon Tarnowski in Lake Station. Bruce retired as an electrician at U.S. Steel, and also worked for Nipsco. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon Shimel; son, Bruce David (Laura) Shimel, Jr; three grandsons, Andrew, Benjamin and Christopher; sister, Michelle Shimel-Lemke and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Albert C. Shimel, Jr.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 1, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, In. 46368, with Pastor Ovid Radulescu officiating.
