Calvin E. Wheeler, age 47 of Hobart formerly a longtime Lake Station resident passed away Friday, January 3, 2014. He was born on April 1, 1966 in Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Chicago, the Lake Station American Legion Post 100 and he also served as a Lake Station Volunteer Fireman. Calvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery, and target shooting.
He is survived by his wife, Kim Wheeler (nee Weyant) of Hobart, IN; 2 sons, Joshua L. (Jillian) Wheeler of Lake Station, IN; Travis M. (Kasey) Wheeler of Lake Station, IN; mother, Linda K. Wheeler of Lewisburg, TN; 2 sisters, Robin L. (Randy L.) Williams of Lake Station, IN; Missy R. (Russell) Armes of Lake Station, IN; 1 brother, Shawn A. (Shawn M.) Wheeler of Perryville, MO; 3 grandchildren, Noah, Sophie, and Lacie all of Lake Station, mother and father-in law, Joyce and Charlie Weyant of Portage, IN; and many nieces, nephews and extended children from the neighborhood.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold A. Wheeler.
Funeral services are Friday, January 10, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Ave., Lake Station with Rev. Terry Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Heritage Cemetery, Portage. Visitation is Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel.
