Carl A. Ayres

Carl A. Ayres, age 93 of Portage, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2026. He was born on April 30, 1932, to the late Dan and Mattie Ayres. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On July 18, 1953, he married Delva Harris in New Salisbury, Indiana. He was a longtime member of the Lake Station Assembly of God.

He is survived one son, Douglas (Rodeana) Ayres of LaPorte, IN; two grandchildren, Jasmine Ayres and Cheyenne Hendrickson, and one great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delva Ayres, one daughter, Linda Hendrickson, and 10 siblings.

Funeral services are Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 12 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Jasmine Ayres officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation is just prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.
