Carl R. Thomas

Carl R. Thomas, age 84 a longtime Lake Station resident  passed away Monday, June 23, 2025.  He was born on September 13, 1940 in Princeton, Kentucky  to the late Carl and Julia Mae Thomas.  Carl worked at U.S. Steel as a Crane Operator.  He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Portage.  He loved working on his tractors.

He is survived by one son, Tony (Ruby) Thomas of Lake Station, IN; one daughter, Melinda (Dwayne) Marlow of Lake Station, IN; two brothers, Chuck (Birdie) Thomas of Portage, IN; Randy Thomas of Valparaiso, IN; grandchildren, Amanda, Kyle, Sunshine, and TJ, two great-grandchildren, Amari and Aya.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mona Thomas, one son, Tim Thomas, two brothers, R. T. Thomas, Bob Thomas, two sisters, Linda McPeak, Shirley Dunbar,  and one grandson, Jonathon.

There will be a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, July 19, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.  at the Lakeview Baptist Church, 2321 Dombey  Rd., Portage, IN. A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 p.m. also at the church.

Cremation will take place with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Olson Chapel Portage.
