Carol V. Avina

Carol V. Avina, age 81 a lifetime Hobart resident passed away Friday, February 19, 2021.  She was born on June 26, 1939 in Gary, Indiana to the late Ralph and Florence Bodamer.  Carol retired from Nipsco where she had worked for many years.

She is survived by five children, Joyce (Don) Pavelka of Lake Station, IN; Mary (George Reimer) Szymaszek of Valparaiso, IN; Dennis Stanford of Hobart, IN; Tim (Chris) Stanford of Valparaiso, IN; Peggy (Ronald) Mayersky of Merrillville, IN; one sister, Shirley Fraley of Hobart, IN; her niece, Kathy Jonak of North Liberty, fourteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sylvia Denton, two brothers, Robert Bodamer and Howard Bodamer, and one sister, Doris Jonak.

Graveside services are Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Hobart.  A family gathering in Carol's honor will follow from 3:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Slovak Club, 6920 Broadway, Merrillville, IN  46410.  Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel completed arrangements.
