Carol Crisman-Retz age 78, after a 20 year battle with Parkinson's disease, Our Lord welcomed Carol home on March 10, 2018 to join her sons, Eric and Ted Crisman; grandson, Michael Clawson; her parents, Harry and Iola Shumaker.

She was the older of two children. Carol and her beloved brother, Robert (Donna) Shumaker of Hebron, grew up in Whiting, Indiana and graduated from Hammond Clark High School. Carol married Paul Crisman in July of 1956 and to their union had six cherished children. Carol found the second love of her life, Ronnie Retz, and was married in 1973 until he succumbed to cancer in 2005. They joined the Trinity Free Methodist Church in Merrillville in 1974 and she was an active member for 45 years. Some of her favorite memories were of church camp with longtime friends Chet and Dawn Martin.

She leaves behind to mourn her loss three daughters, Susan Gotcher of Hobart, Judith (Ken) Rapier of Hobart and Luanne (Mike) Flynn of Phoenix, Arizona and a son, Daniel Crisman of Chicago Ridge. She also leaves to grieve, grandchildren, John (Vanessa) McMahon of South Haven, Tommy (Lindsay) Clawson of Hobart, Lacie, Joe and Robbie Flynn of Phoenix, Arizona and Josh Crisman of Hubert, North Carolina; great grandchildren, Miles and Maizy Clawson and a host of cousins in the West Lafayette, Indiana region. Two nephews, one niece and her church family also mourn her.

A funeral service for Carol will be Friday, March 16, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor Matthew Schutter officiating at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd.
