Carol A. Eberhardt

Carol A. Eberhardt, age 77, of Valparaiso, passed away Wednesday June 28, 2017. Carol was born January 14, 1940, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Walter and Dorothy (nee VanderMeulen) Melnyk of Hobart. She was a retired Registered Nurse of St. Margaret Mercy in Hammond. She was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Hobart. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend.
Carol is survived by her son, Scott (Laura) Rosenberg of Valparaiso; step-son Keith (Diane) Eberhardt of Hebron; two step-daughters, Sue (Greg) Heflin of Portage and Kathy Richmond- Kochvar of Hershey, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Ken) Wysocki, Jessica (Dan) Smeltzer, and Christopher (Jessica) Nunley, Ryan (Magan) Eberhardt, Laura (Brandon) Parrish, James (Tracy) Richmond, Seth (Megan) Kochvar, Josh (Kate) Kochvar, Andrew Kochvar; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Janet (Robert) Cicenas of Catlettsburg, Kentucky; nephews, Anthony (Callie) Cicenas, Jason Cicenas, Ryan (Susan) Cicenas, Blake (Maria) Cicenas; numerous grand-nieces and grandnephew; and many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin with 9:30 am prayers, Thursday, July 6, 2017, at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana, then processing to St. Bridget's Church, 568 E. 2nd Street, Hobart, Indiana 46342 for 10:00 am Mass. Burial will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery in Gary. Visitation will be from 3-7 pm Wednesday July 5, 2017 at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart, with a 4:00 pm Rosary. (219) 942-2109.
