Carol D. Hammonds (nee Quigley), age 64 of Portage, Indiana passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011. She was born on May 23, 1947 in Gary, Indiana to the late Merle and Myrtle Quigley. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Merrillville. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a very caring and loving person who always went out of her way to help people.

She is survived by 1 daughter, Jennifer (Tim) Lowder of Valparaiso, IN; 3 siblings, Pam Gotsos of Lansing, IL; George Quigley of Greenwood, IN; Paula (Ray) Klein of Merrillville, IN; 1 grandaughter, Danielle Lin "Danee" and many cousins, and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 3 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Ave., Portage. Cremation will follow with Rees Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
