Carol Lee Luttinen, age 76 of Hobart passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023 at St. Mary Medical Center. She was born on June 12, 1946 in Bloomington, Indiana to the late Lee Roy and Betty Wood.  Carol was a longtime Hobart resident and a member of the Hobart United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling in her free time. Above all she loved her family. She dedicated her life to taking care of her family and fostered over 35 children throughout the years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Bruce Luttinen; children, Shelley Riley, Jesse Luttinen, Justin Burgess, James Luttinen, Viola Purcell, Lisa Caldwell; 35 foster children; grandchildren, Piper, Paul, River, Isabella, Brianna, Stephanie, Brayden, Johny, Logan, Caleb, McKenzie, Carter, Chris and Ashlee; 20 great grandchildren; and sister, LaDonna (Vincent) Gabrielle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Roy and Betty Wood; her son, Joseph Luttinen; and her daughter, Sarah Luttinen.

A funeral service for Carol will take place Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 12:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Leah Peksenak officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
