Carol Rainey

CAROL RAINEY, age 68, of Portage, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016 at St. Mary Medical Center while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 31, 1947 in Gary. Carol spent over 30 years in Illinois, but had been a longtime Indiana resident. She worked for many years at a dental insurance company and was known to be an inspirational speaker to the people she knew and loved. Carol will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Carol is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert Rainey; son, Ron (Deanna) Tripp; daughter, Tamara (Nicholas) Johnson; stepson, Brent (Jennifer) Rainey; stepdaughters, Brenda Rainey and Amy Lawson; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Robert Danford; sisters, Sharon (Robert) Carreras, Judith Rogers, Gloria (Timothy) Briesacher, Barbara (Mary Crone) Rainey and Sally Rainey; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville Danford and Alberta Danford Robinson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Fern Rainey.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Carol's name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Visitation for Carol will be Monday, May 23, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. funeral service all at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Pastor Ryan McDowell officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
