Carole A. Whiteside

Carole (nee Walker) Whiteside, age 73, of Portage, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at home. She was born on November 27, 1943 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Grover and Virginia Walker. On August 8, 1969, she married William C. Whiteside. Carole was employed as a bookkeeper. In her free time, she loved to read. She enjoyed chocolate and Pepsi and she was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. She will be remembered as dedicated mother who would always put her family first.
Carole is survived by her sons, William Whiteside, Jr., Tom Whiteside; daughter, Sheri Carmichael Whiteside; son in law, James Carmichael; brother, Jerry Walker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Whiteside, earlier this year; and one brother, Michael Walker.
A memorial service for Carole will take place Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. A memorial visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Inurnment of cremains will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso.
