Carolyn R. Andersen, age 83, of Portage passed away Thursday July 28, 2022, in her home. She was born April 21, 1939, in New Port, Rhode Island to the late Ezra and Ellen (Dunbar) Hearson. Carolyn worked as a spark tester for Screw and Bolt a Division of Modulus Corp. She also worked for Eagle Services in Burns Harbor.  She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and great grandmother. Carolyn was a former member of the Aetna VFW Post #909 Auxiliary, she loved to play Bunco and solve crossword puzzles. Carolyn was also a Die-Hard Cubs Fan.

Carolyn is survived by her children, Steven (Mary) Dawkins of Lake Station, Randy (Dina) Dawkins of Portage, and Kellie LeBonte of Hobart; two Sisters, Linda Souza of Florida and Maureen (Dudley) Coleman of Missouri; eight grandchildren, Jenna Dawkins, Austin LeBonte, Carolyn LeBonte, Ryan Hoggard, Randall Dawkins, Sammy Dawkins, Jenna Mathis and Andrea Walker; a great grandson, Wesley; and her beloved dog Summer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter Linda Andersen; a granddaughter Caitlyn Andersen; a brother, Paul Hearson; and her loving canine companion Blitz.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Wednesday August 3, 2022, at the Rees Funeral Home 600 W. Old Ridge Road Hobart, Indiana 46342. Funeral services will be at 10 am Thursday at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
