Catherine Yavor, age 87 of Portage passed away Saturday, December 26, 2015. She was born on June 30, 1928 in Gary, Indiana to the late Andrew and Teresa Podner. She worked at the Hobart Humane Society for many years and was a former longtime Hobart resident. She was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Church. Catherine enjoyed repairing and restoring antique clocks, painting and leaded glass work. She also enjoyed her beloved dog, "Sniffer" who lived with her for many years.
She is survived by one daughter, Rose (Brian) Morton of Highland, IN; one grandson, Daniel (Mary) Brackett of Oak Park, IL; two great-grandchildren, Max and Miles Brackett, one niece, Kathy (John) Copeland of Porter, IN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Yavor, and one sister, Elizabeth Licari.
