Charlene F. Tschopp, age 79, of Lake Station, IN was called home to the Lord on Friday, September 8, 2023. She was born September 15, 1943, in Gary, IN to the late Charles and Opal (nee Malott) Smith.
In addition to raising her eight children, Charlene spent her career as a private duty home healthcare aide, caring for others selflessly. She and her husband, Adam, attend the Central Church of God and Black Oak Pentecostal Church of God where she was very active in the church events. In her spare time, Charlene enjoyed spending time with family and church friends and travel to exotic places like Israel, Alaska, and the Bahamas. She was a thoughtful gift giver; always taking the time to choose just the right gift for the special people in her life. Most of all, Charlene loved her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Charlene will always be remembered by her husband: Adam; children: Lorry (Donny) Nixon, William (Jennifer) Hill, Bernard Hill, John Hill, Louis (Virginia) Bain II, Michael Bain, Randy Bain, and Roxann Bain; stepdaughter: Nicole (Jason) Fisher; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother: Don Smith of Arizona; sister: Ginger Smith, of Florida; many nieces and nephews; and many more church family members.
In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in passing by her first husband: William Boyd Hill; second husband: Louis Bain; brother: Chuck Smith; and stepson: Adam Tschopp, III.
Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel (5341 Central Ave., Portage) on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 3:00-8:00 P.M. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at Central Church of God (5120 Central Avenue, Portage). Pastor Jerry Martin officiating. At Rest, Maplewood Memorial Cemetery, Crown Point.
