Charles V. Blackburn, Jr., age 62, of Valparaiso, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011. Charles was a lifelong Northwest Indiana resident and had been employed at Gary-Hobart Water Company. He was also formerly employed at the Budd Company in Gary. Chuck was an artist who drew cartoons and was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Merrillville.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Kathleen, 2 daughters, Michelle (Nick) Kujawa and Cheryl Blackburn, all of Valparaiso, 2 grandchildren, Madeline & Haley Kujawa, 2 sisters, Irene Harding of Brook, IN, and Lorrie (Tim) Walsh of Chesterton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles, Sr. and Mary (nee Moore) Blackburn. Memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11:00 am at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 6795 Broadway, Merrillville, with Rev. Jerry Moe officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
