CHARLES W. COLEMAN, SR., age 82, of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at St. Anthony Hospital in Crown Point. Charles was a retired Ironworker affiliated with Local #395 of Hammond. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War Era. Charles was a Member of the Hobart McClelland Masonic Lodge #712 F. & A.M. He especially enjoyed gardening and took great pride in his lawn.
He is survived by his 3 children: Charles, Jr., (Brenda) Coleman of Aztec, New Mexico, Brady Coleman of Portage and Sandy Roth (fiancé, Frank Giangiulio) of Crown Point, 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and brother, Billy Joe (Bessie) Coleman of North Carolina and nieces & nephews. His wife, Jeanette, preceded him in death in January of 2000 and his sister, Wanda Harris.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 18, 2011 at 11 am at the Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Rev. Mark Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville, Indiana. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm with a Masonic Service at 7:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.
