Charles "Charlie" Darrell Smith

Charles "Charlie" D. Smith, age 51, of Lake Station, passed away at home on Sunday, March 12, 2017. He was born in Chicago, IL on June 28, 1965 to Charles Darrell and Imogene (nee Troop) Smith. Charlie was a union carpenter, Local 1005. Charlie was a private person who enjoyed playing pool and will be remembered as a hardworking, religious family man.

Charlie is survived by his mother, Imogene Smith; brothers, Robert (Kim) Smith, Darrell (Tammy) Smith, Donnie Smith, Donnie "Brooster" Smith; sisters, Kimberly Fielden, Jessica Gwinn; his pride and joy, niece, Brooklyn Tiblow; and several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Darrell Smith; grandfather, Robert Troop; and grandmother, Gurthie Troop.

A funeral service for Charlie will take place Friday, March 17, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 W Old Ridge Road Hobart, IN 46342 with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. He will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart. Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the time of service at the funeral home. For more information, please call 219-942-2109.
