Charles H. Eidman, age 77, of Portage, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017. He was born on October 27, 1939 in Mcleansboro, Illinois. A lifelong Northwest Indiana resident and self-proclaimed ladies' man, he owned and operated Charlie's Towing in Portage. He loved classic cars, restoring cars and going to car shows. He was especially fond of Fords. He also liked gardening and cooking. He will always be remembered for growing way too many tomatoes and making sure everyone he knew got some.
He is survived by his daughters, Julie (Thomas) Foley, Sandra (Michael) Hodges, Dawn (Jeffery Johnston) Eidman; grandchildren, Douglas Wilson, Leanna Castaneda, Amber Eidman, Carrie Owens, Christopher Moss, Devyn Cooper, Jazmyn Johnston; great grandchildren, Jeremiah Kane, Tracy Kane, Sr., Karli Kane, Chase Kane, Skye Castenada, Nevaeh Meador, Trevor Foster, Olivia Hampton, Natalie Moss; ex-wife and best friend, Marianna Klunder; brothers, Steve (Julie) Hunt, Gregory (Barb) Hunt, Terry Hunt.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Glendle and Zelma Hunt; daughters, Charlene Eidman, Kimberly Eidman; granddaughter, Bridjette Kane.
A funeral service for Charlie will take place Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 1:30 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave., Portage with Pastor Duane Schmidt officiating.
