Charles "Chuck" Frederick Smith

Charles Frederick "Chuck" Smith, age 75 a longtime Valparaiso resident passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2020.  He was born on April 1, 1945 to the late Richard and Madge Smith.  He was a former longtime Hobart resident and graduated from Hobart High School, Class of 1963. Chuck served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era.  He worked as an electrician for many years for Local Union 697 IBEW.  Chuck loved restoring cars and collecting knives.  He loved his family especially his granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife of over 47 years, Jean Smith (nee Bannister) of Valparaiso, IN; one son, Michael (Norma) Smith of Valparaiso, IN; two granddaughters, Alexis and Carli.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Patricia Vendyl.

A memorial service for Chuck will be Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 3 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. David Nykamp officiating.  There will also be a facebook livestream of the memorial service that can be accessed on the Rees Funeral Homes Facebook page   Memorial visitation will be Saturday just prior to the service from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m..  (219) 942-2109.
