Charles "Charlie" Herman Harper, age 76, of Portage, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015 at Porter Regional Hospital. Charlie was born July 17, 1939 in Ridgely, Tennessee to the late Charlie Harper and Annie (Langley) Beard. Charlie retired after 36 years of service to the City of Portage as a driver's helper. After his retirement, he logged over 4000 volunteer hours in five short years at the Fountainview Nursing Home. Charlie will always be remembered for his benevolent nature and dedication to the City of Portage.

He is survived by sister: Ruth Ann (Archie) Pikramenos; niece: Anna Marie Smith; nephews: Tony Pikramenos, Carl Pikramenos, Archie Pikramenos.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Charlie Harper and Annie Beard; his beloved wife: Dorothy Harper; brothers: Tommy Harper, Chester Harper; nephew: Michael Pikramenos.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to help pay for funeral expenses.

Funeral services for Charlie will be conducted 11 am Tuesday August 25, 2015 at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage with Rev. Andrew Corona officiating.
