Obituary

CHARLES O. HAWKINS, age 74, of Lake Station, passed away Friday. January 28, 2011 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Charles was born March 30, 1936 in Russellville, Alabama to Hosie Orman Hawkins and Jewel F. (nee Lentz) Hawkins and served in the US Army. He was a retired conductor employed with the Illinois Central Railroad after 40 years of service.
He is survived by 3 children: Charles S. (Kathy) Hawkins of Mandleville, Louisiana, Keith O. (Karen) Hawkins and Deborah Ann (Kevin) Hall of Portage, 6 grandchildren, brothers, Jerrry Wayne (Mary Helen) Hawkins of Savannah, Georgia, Jimmie Don (Jenette) Hawkins of Friends Wood, Texas, He was preceded in death by brother, Eugene Hawkins and 3 wives, Ella Ruth Hawkins, Ruth Pearl Hawkins and Dorthula Hawkins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2011 beginning at 10:00 am at 29th Avenue Baptist Church, 116 E. 29th Avenue, Lake Station, with Pastor John A. Hurt officiating. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery in Portage. Friends may call Monday from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel, 3781 Central Avenue, Lake Station.
