Charles E. "Papa" Lake, age 74, of Valparaiso passed away Monday October 17, 2016 at the Addison Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center. Charles was a steel worker with 48 years of service working for Inland Steel and US Steel. He was born December 15, 1941 in East Chicago, Indiana to the late Harold and Mary (Smith) Lake. Chuck loved his family dearly and enjoyed walking around Apple Mountain with his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, vacationing in Upper Michigan and sailing. He could never lie without the twinkle in his eye giving him away.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Darlene; his three children, Richard (Teresa) Lake of Hobart, Kelly (Daniel) Claussen of Union Mills and Robyn (Shawn) Waggoner of Long Beach; his seven grandchildren, Ricky Lake, Reece Lake, Steve (Roberta) Claussen, Jacob Goldie, Kaity Hardin, Amber Gloyeske and Meah Waggoner; his three great grandchildren, Ella, Luke and Roen Hardin; his brother, James (Kathy) Lake of Hobart; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother John Lake.

Memorial visitation will be Tuesday October 25, 2016 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 1:00 pm Tuesday.
