Charles N. Mavronicles
Age 69, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at his home in Hobart.
Charles was born on October 18, 1944 to Gus and Phyllis (nee Whallen) Mavronicles in Hammond, Indiana. He attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Hobart and a retired Millwright from Local 1014 at USX. On December 26, 1964 Charles married the love of his life Linda Johnson in Gary, Indiana. He was an avid Golfer, enjoyed softball and was a third degree black belt and had a passion for Karate. Charles will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Linda (nee Johnson) Mavronicles of Hobart; two daughters, Natalie (John) Weller of Buda, Texas and Sherrie Mavronicles of Leander, Texas; grandson, Nathaniel Liess of Leander, Texas; mother, Phyllis Mavronicles; three brothers, Gus Mavronicles Jr of Schererville, Indiana, Ed Mavronicles of Michigan City, Indiana and Tom (Ruth) Mavronicles of Munster, Indiana, loving nieces and nephews and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents Nicolas and Elizabeth Mavronicles and maternal grandparents, Edward and Addie Belle Whallen.
A Memorial Service for Charles will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 10:30 am directly at Trinity Lutheran Church, 900 Luther Drive, Hobart, Indiana 46342, with Pastor Gary S. Nagy- Emeritus officiating. Burial at a later date. A Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, October 17, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana 46342.
