Charles Robert McClaran, age 82, of Portage passed away Sunday March 8, 2015 at his home. Charles was born December 19, 1932 in Gary, Indiana to the late Joseph and Ella (Schultz) McClaran . Charles retired as the General Manager of Roger and Sons Construction in 1995. He was a Naval Veteran, a member and Past Master of Dunes Lodge #741, F&AM, a member of American Legion Post #260, VFW Post #7760, FOP Lodge #165, the Indiana Sheriff's Association and the Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend.

Charles is survived by four daughters Christine Danielson of Rochester, Denita (Bill) Buchanan of Michigan, Deborah (John) Scarborough of Portage and Karen Peksenak-Poff of Valparaiso; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and one brother Joseph (Donna) McClaran of Portage.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Mary Jeffries.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday March 12, 2015 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, Indiana with Rev. Timothy Engel officiating. Burial will follow in McCool Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Wednesday with a 7pm Masonic Service at the funeral home.
