Charles "Charlie P." Person

Charles Person, age 67, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021.  He was born on October 19,1953 in Midway, Alabama to the late Alexander and Georgia Bell (nee Washington) Person. Charles attended Zion Missionary Baptist Church in East Chicago, IN as a child.  Later in life he confessed faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior. He was a graduate of West Side High School, Gary, Indiana.  He attended Purdue University Calumet and Ivy Tech Community College in Northwest Indiana.

Charles is survived by his siblings, Alexander (Tommie) Person, Jr. of Colorado, Walter (Barbara) Person of New Jersey, Sidney (Clarence) Person Hammond of Maryland; 3 aunts; 1 uncle; and a host nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephews and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Jean Person Harrison; and his parents.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 10:00 am with Rev. Dr. Derrick Simmons officiating at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, IN 46368.  He will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery, 4450 Harrison Street in Gary, IN.  Visitation will take place Monday, September 13, 2021 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel.  For more information call 219-762-3013.
