Charles E. Ragon, age 89, of Hobart passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born on February 16, 1925 in Lawrenceville, Illinois to the late Edward and Edna Ragon. Charles proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post #54. On March 12, 1948, he married the love of his life, Mildred Pauline Loudermilk.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mildred Pauline Ragon; children, Charles P. (Carol) Ragon of Hobart, Linda S. (Gerald) Gaydos of Valparaiso, Dan (Kathy) Ragon of Hobart, Michael (Deb) Ragon of Raub, IN, Glen (Terry) Ragon of Portage, Patty (Tim) Marsee of Lake Station; daughter in law, Sandy Ragon; brother, Luther (Marilyn) Ragon of Michigan City; sisters, Bertha (James) Griffith of Rensselaer, IN, June Scott of Burkett, IN, Margaret Ann Parsons of Huntsville, AL, Mary Joyce of Lapel, IN; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Edna Ragon; son, Russell Ragon; several brothers and sisters. Memorial contributions in Charles' name may be made to the VNA Hospice Foundation, 2401 Valley Drive, Valparaiso, IN 46383.
A funeral service for Charles will take place Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Reverend Jeffrey Carter officiating. He will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
