CHARLES E. "CHUCK" WINGARD, age 78, of Gary, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Methodist Hospital, Southlake Campus in Merrillville. Chuck was a Gary resident for 44 years and was a US Army Veteran during the Korean War. He retired from Inland Steel in East Chicago with 40 years of service and was a member of American Legion Post #701.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Christina, 5 children: Teresa (Scott) Harness of Crown Point, Bryan Wingard (Vickey Richardson), Janiece Wingard (Larry Gore), all of Hobart, Danny Wingard of Gary and Dennis Wingard of Lake Station, grandchildren: Brittany Lamphear, Annette (Keith) McIndoo, Jason (Sarah) Harness, Tabatha (Chris) Charleston; Skylar & Savannah Wingard; Alexis Wingard, Justin Cox and Daniel Cooper, 9 great grandchildren, sister, Juanita (Bill) Strong and brother-in-law, Vernon James. His daughter, Sally Ann Lamphear and 2 sisters, Ruthanna James and Rita Tate preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 29, 2011 at 11 am at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Rev. Gary S. Nagy officiating.
