CHARLES A. "CHARLIE" COX, 62, of Lake Station, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at home. Charlie was born January 27, 1949 in Coxton, Kentucky to Homer Austin Cox and Juanita (nee Hembree) Cox. He had been a longtime Northwest Indiana resident and was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Charlie was a member of East Gary Memorial Post #100 and VFW Post #9323. He retired from US Steel, Gary Works, from the 1 Caster/Bop Shop.
He is survived by his son, Charles A. II (Rochelle) Cox of Portage, 3 daughters: Teressa (Larry) Alcorn, Tina Cool and Beth (Joey) Kwell, all of Lake Station, brother, Austin Cox of Portage, numerous grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine "Jerry" Cox in 2004, daughter, Pam Pavlinac and his parents.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 10 am at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage, with Pastor John Hurt officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage, Indiana.
