John C. Moldovan "Charlie", age 59, of Hobart, IN passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022 at St. Mary Medical Center.

Charlie was born on July 2, 1962 in Gary, IN to the late John Edward and Joanne June Moldovan.  He worked as an auto repairman for many years and later was a tow truck driver.  Charlie was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aux #2498 and threw angry darts there every Saturday when he was not racing.  He was a proud dirt track racer, travelling all over the area to race cars that he built himself. He lived and breathed racing. Charlie also enjoyed bowling with his family.  He was a survivor of kidney cancer.  Charlie was always there for others and was always available to lend a helping hand but not without giving a hard time before it.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Charlie is survived by his children: Ryan Mathis and Tiffany (Greg) Benard; fiancé: Teresa Wright; siblings: Michael Moldovan, Cherie (late John) Janis, Debbie (Jody) Soliday, and Irish twin sister, Linda (Jim) Bottos; grandchildren: Tim (Brittany) Johnson, Jessica (Terry) Koselke, Jacob Timberlake, Megan (Dylan) Jones, and Lucus Benard; numerous nieces and nephews; many dear close friends; and his cat: Snowball.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents: John and Joanne, brother: Kenny Moldovan; brother-in-law John Janis; and nephew: Ronald Moldovan.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W Old Ridge Rd) on Friday, January 21, 2022 from 2:00-8:00 P.M.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. from Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel with Pastor Scott Mauch officiating.  Cremation will follow services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to Charlie's family.
