CHERYL L. MATHIS, age 71, of Valparaiso, formerly of Hobart, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the VNA Hospice while surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on December 13, 1946 to the late Charles and Doris King.  Cheryl was a 1965 graduate of Hobart High School and worked as a nurse before retirement.  She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Cheryl is survived by her 2 daughters, Jennifer (Jim) DeSchryver of Livonia, MI, and Kathy (Eric) Hein of Valparaiso; 4 grandchildren, Reese and Mari DeSchryver and Gavin and Paige Hein; 3 brothers, Charles (Mary) King of Valparaiso, John (Rhonda) King of OH, and David King of Merrillville; sister, Linda (David) Barzler of NC.
