Christa D. Gibson, age 83, of Portage, formerly of Rome, New York, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Endicott, New York on December 3, 1938, to the late Lewis and Bernice (nee Nelson) Seaver. She was a devout Christian and a member of First Baptist Church in Portage.  Christa was a fantastic cook, and enjoyed sewing, cross stitch and reading. Christa dedicated her life to the Lord and to her family, her loving husband of 64 yrs., Ernest G. Gibson, whom she married on September 2, 1957, in Binghamton, New York. They had five children; three sons, Rev. Terry (Renee) Gibson, Rev. Daniel (Alissa) Gibson and Scott (Dawn) Gibson; two daughters, Diane (Joe) Staton and Christy (Mark) Hurd; brother, David (Jeaneth) Seaver; 24 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lewis "Glen" Gibson; sister and her husband, Bonnie and Hartley Cruver and her daughter-in law, Nancy Gibson.
