Cindy Lee Wright, age 69, of Hobart, IN passed away on Tueday, January 9, 2024.

Cindy was born on January 11, 1954, in Munster, IN to the late William E. and Naomi Lou (nee Blount) Smith.  While she worked many different jobs over the years, including as a Teachers Aide while she lived in Alabama, Cindy was known as the owner and operator of CJ's Cleaning.  She was a very special member of R&F Tax Service LLC as the head secretary for over 20 years.  Cindy married Evert E. Wright "Eddie" and enjoyed many wonderful years together until his passing in 1991.  For 20 plus years after 1991, Cindy was with her partner Jay Whaley who precedes her in death.  He is survived by his son: Arthur Whaley.

Cindy joined Eddie in becoming members of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Hobart and the Glen Park Izaak Walton League.  She enjoyed fishing and competing in tractor pulls.  Cindy was a beloved sister and aunt who was there for the births of her beloved nieces and nephews.  She helped her siblings raise their kids and was like a mother to all.  Not only was she a sister, but she also became a trusted friend, confidant, and rock to her sister Jacqueline.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Cindy is survived by her sister: Jacqueline (William D.) Van Vleet; aunt: Maryellen (nee Blount) Babbit; godsons: Ben (Shannon Tompkins) Rose, Mark (Dawn) Rose, and Jason Rose; Jacqueline's children: Dale E., Rebecca A. (Jeff Grise), Joseph E., Matthew A., and Tyler E. Van Vleet; other numerous treasured nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Sharon Smith and Judith Smith; brother-in-law: Danny R. Rose; her beloved dog: June; and her loving cat: Maggie.

Cindy is preceded in death by her parents: William and Naomi; husband: Eddie; siblings: William Smith, Harry Smith, Ronald Smith, Sue Pizzolato, and Mary Lou (nee Smith) Rose.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel (600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart) on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M.  A Funeral Service will take place immediately following visitation at 1:00 P.M. with Deacon Michael Booth officiating.  At Rest, Evergreen Memorial Park.
