Lake Station, Indiana

Clarence W. "Diz" Disney,age 85, of Lake Station, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012. He was born on August 20, 1926, in Taylorville, Illinois, the son of Clarence Sr. and Virginia Disney. Clarence grew up and attended school in Terre Haute. He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II in the Philippines. He moved to Northwest Indiana in 1953. Clarence was employed first at Taylor Forge and then at Bethlehem Steel. Clarence also served as the Director for Sub-District I for the United Steelworkers of America. He was a member of the American Legion Paul Leon Wolek Memorial Post #454. Clarence was a standout high school and college basketball player, who also enjoyed golfing and was an avid sports fan. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to all. He will be missed dearly.

Clarence is survived by 2 children, Steve (Debra) Disney of Hobart and Shelley (Dennis) King of Chesterton; 5 grandchildren, Steve Jr. (Carrie) Disney, Stacey (Clyde) Rittel, Jeffrey Disney, Michael Disney, Kristin (Tom) Bonez; 5 great grandchildren, Samantha, Halen, Payton, Hallie, Brenley; brother, Paul (Ilene) Disney of Lebanon, sister, Sarah Rolando of Terre Haute; sister-in-law Ruth Ann Barth, O'Fallon, Missouri, many nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy and his parents; brother, Lyle; sisters, Twyla Muroski, Merle Campbell, and Melba Shaw.

A visitation for Clarence Disney will be held from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. A funeral service for Clarence Disney will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Rees Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Strietelmeier, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. Memorials in Clarence's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
