Clifford R. Shimer

Clifford R. Shimer, age 74, of Lake Station passed away Wednesday April 6, 2022, in his home with his family by his side. Cliff was born November 14, 1947, in Washington, Indiana to the Late Clifford and Marge (Smith) Shimer. He retired from US Can Corporation. Clifford was a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam Era and receiving a Purple Heart.

He ls survived by three children, Christine (George) Bouchard of Valparaiso, Virginia (Marcus) Howell of Lake Station, and Shawn Shimer of Lake Station; Nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; his brother, Raymond (Star) Shimer; his sister, Shirley (Larry) Howard; two half-sisters, Sandra (Craig) Harlmert and Debra (Jeff) Bailey; his stepmother, Wilma Jean Shimer; and several nieces and nephews.

Military Honors and graveside burial services will be conducted at 1:30 PM Thursday April 28, 2022, in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Rees Funeral Home, Brady Chapel was entrusted with Clifford's services. Clifford will be cremated and his ashes will be buried in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.
