Clyde J. Allen, 83, of Portage, Indiana (formerly Hobart) passed away at home on February 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Clyde was born on July 11, 1942, in Halls, Tennessee, to B.F. and Geraldine (Jones) Allen. His family moved to Lake Station, Indiana, where Clyde graduated from Thomas A Edison High School in 1962. After high school, Clyde worked as a crane mechanic at Inland Steel before serving in the US Army Artillery Division in Vietnam. He returned to Inland Steel after his service and retired from Inland after 40 years. Clyde was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church in Portage. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed his kids’ and grandkids' sporting events, and loudly cheered on the Cubs, Bears, and Notre Dame Football.

On June 22, 1968, Clyde married Elvia Camarillo. They had four children Laura (Steve) Click, Susie Rudd, Bill (Nancy) Allen, and Daniel (Jennifer) Allen. It was a joy for Clyde to spend time with his nine grandchildren: Kyle (Ciara), Katie, Carter, Sierra, Olivia, Tori, Nathan, Weston, and Nolan, and his great-granddaughter, Auslynn. He loved his family.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, brother Billy Franklin Allen, and son-in-law Jimmy Rudd. 

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter, along with sisters: Barb Fowble, Pat (Jim) Lerch, and Wendy (Edward) Brummet, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Clyde will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, Indiana. His funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
