Connie L. Wirick (nee Thompson), age 68 of Portage passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. She was born on March 21, 1956, in Lake City, Tennessee to the late Clyde and Betty Thompson. She was a 1974 graduate of River Forest High School. She liked to collect precious moments and angels. In her free time, she enjoyed working in her yard, quilting, and baking. Connie shared her baked goods with everyone. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Chicago and led the singing for Vacation Bible School for many years until her health failed. Above all, she loved her family and spoiled all of them including her dogs.

She is survived by her loving husband, F. Donald Wirick; children, Cassandra Bennett, Jeremy Wirick, Jason (Mary) Wirick; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; siblings, Andy (Eden) Thompson, Kathy Compton, Susi Thompson, Dale (Cathy) Thompson, Van (Susie) Thompson, Rodney (Paula) Thompson; brother-in-law, Philip (Donna) Wirick; sisters of the heart, Beth Dahlgren; numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Betty Thompson; brother-in-law, Mike Compton; and her beloved fur babies, Keesha, Kayla, and Kasie. Memorial contributions in Connie's name may be made to Humane Society of Hobart, 2054 State Road 130 Hobart, IN 46342.

A funeral service for Connie will take place Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at 10:00 am at 1st Baptist Church of New Chicago, 401 Huber Blvd, New Chicago with Pastor Jerry Stepp officiating. Visitation will take place Monday, April 8, 2024 from 2:00-8:00 pm also at 1st Baptist Church in New Chicago. She will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
