Cornelia "Lynn" Martin

Age 66 passed away Saturday, September 9,2023 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Hobart. She was born on September 26,1956 in Siegen, Germany to the late David Newsom and Wanda Weaver. Cornelia was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5365 and the American Legion Post 100 both of Hobart. On March 6, 2006, Cornelia married Vernon Martin 17 loving years together. She will be remembered as a loving girlfriend, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She is survived by her son, David Newsome; two daughters, Tina Cheek, and Vanessa Cheek; ten grandchildren, Rachelle Sanchez, John Sanchez Jr., Tyler Sanchez, Charles Llams, Aubriel Vitaux, Jasmine Newsome, Damon Newsome, Clayton Cheek, Messiah Washington, and James Wahington Jr.; eight great-grandchildren; boyfriend, Edward Burns; two sisters, Heidi Newsom, and Charlotte Thiel; Cousin, Teddy and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Martin; grandson, Anthony Brown; and Aunt, Inca.

Family and friends may gather at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel 5341 Central Ave., Portage, Indiana 46368 on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 2:00-8:00 P.M.  A funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 15, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, Portage with Chaplain Craig Forwalter officiating.
