Dale Duane Hensley, age 69 of Crown Point, Indiana passed away following a brief illness Monday, November 5, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 1, 1943 in Marietta, Ohio. He served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard for 6 years. Dale was retired from the Hobart Fire Department with 30 years of service. He also worked as a Senior Sales Representative for the New 5 Alarm Fire and Safety Equipment. Dale was also a Projectionist and a member of the Projectionist IATSE Local 125. He was an avid golfer, a former member of the Supervisors Country Club and a current member of the White Hawk Country Club. Dale was an avid Buckeye fan and a member of the Ohio State Football family where he recruited for the football team for 30 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Laura J. Hensley (nee Wilson) of Crown Point, IN; 3 children, Tish (Steve) Barncord of Union Township, IN; Daniel Hensley of Columbia, TN; Shawn (Dave) Yager of Zionsville, IN; step-mother, Ann Gill of Canal Winchester, OH; 1 brother, Jim (Paula) Hensley of NE; 3 sisters, Kim (Mike) Lucas of Virgina Beach, VA; Rhonda (Bryant) Myers of Dublin, OH; Kathy Kirts of Canal Winchester, OH; 1 sister-in-law, Lynne Hippie of Valparaiso, IN; 1 brother-in-law, Ken (Mimi) Wilson of LaPorte, IN; 3 grandchildren, Stephen and Sean Barncord, and Lauren Yager, and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lulu Hensley, his father, George F Hensley and his birth father, Ralph Gill, 1 infant sister, Carol Gill, 1 sister-in-law, Jean Wilson, and 1 brother-in-law Evan Hippie.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Dale's honor may be made to the St. Anthony Hospice, 203 Franciscan Drive, Crown Point, IN 46307.
Funeral services are Friday, November 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel and Proceeding to Fire Station #1 for last call.
