DAMIAN P. FRANCHVILLE, age 82, of Portage, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso. Damian had been a Portage resident for 25 years and was a US Marine Corps Veteran during the Korean War. He retired from LTV Steel in 1986.
Damian is survived by his son, Damian A. "Frenchy" (Herma) Franchville of Lake Station, 4 daughters: Patricia (Edmund) Reaser of Liberty, IN, Linda (Trinidad) Alfaro of Hobart, Glenda (Leroy) Burgess of Poplar Bluff, MO and Carol (Robert) Day of Naylor, MO, 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, sister, Margie Hudson of Shelbyville, IN and nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma, son, James Franchville, parents, Alvin & Emma Franchville, 2 grandchildren, Michael Burgess and Lynn Franchville and brother, Cosmos Franchville.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm Wednesday with Pastor Bob Burton officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Portage.
