Daniel John Boits Sr. of Kouts, Indiana was called to his new life by the Lord on Friday, November 27, 2020 at the Franciscan Health Center in Crown Point, Indiana.  Dan was born in South Bend on October 2, 1951.  His passing leaves a tremendous hole in the heart of all who knew him.  Dan was retired after having a distinguished career as a primary and special education teacher in the Michigan City School System.  His dedication to educating young students was one of his life passions.  Dan loved muscle cars and motorcycles, and had particular fond memories of a road trip across the Badlands of South Dakota.  Dan had a deep love of books as well as all things related to military history and the Wild West.  Most of all, Dan loved spending time with his family and friends.

Dan is survived by his two sons, Daniel Boits Jr. of Denver, Colorado, and Christopher Boits of Katy, Texas.  He leaves behind two brothers and one sister; James (Dr. Casey Barczyk) Boits of Land O' Lakes, Florida, Thomas Boits of South Bend, Indiana, and Susan (Leslie) Mawson of Johnson, Vermont as well as his longtime loving companion Nancy Wellons.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Virginia (Marnocha) Boits.  The family has scheduled no attended services at this time.
