Daniel O. Camacho Rodriguez

Age 90, passed away Friday, March 28, 2014 at VNA Hospice in Valparaiso. Daniel was born on June 25, 1923 in Mexico City, Mexico to the late Dionicio Garcia and Marcela Camacho (nee Guanajuato) Rodriguez. Daniel retired after 40 yrs. as a Crane Operator from Inland Steel. He was on the Board of Directors of the Inland Athletic Association for three years and received a commendation from Inland Steel Company for freeing an injured man whose hand was pinned on July7, 1980. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Croatian Church in Gary, and he proudly served his country in WW II in the United States Army. He was also a member of Union 1010, IAA, Pan American Golf Association and was an avid bowler and golfer.Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 68 yrs. Anita(nee Baezz) Rodriguez; six children, Daniel (Cindy) Rodriguez Jr., Christine (Hector) Viera, Marcela (James) Martinez, Guadalupe Dickerson, Esther (Nevy) Garza and William (Lori) Rodriguez, 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great- granddaughter and other loving family members and friends.Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, brother Francisco Javier Olvera and son-in-law, Steve Dickerson.In lieu of flowers donations to the Rodriguez family would be appreciated.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held directly at 10:00am on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at St. Joseph the Workers Croatian Church, 330 East 45 ^th Avenue, Gary, Indiana 46409.Burial at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Hobart.
