Daniel W. O'Brien

Daniel W. O'Brien, age 71 of Hobart, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024. He was born on June 4, 1952, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Eugene and Rose O'Brien. Dan graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1970. On June 7, 1986, he married Lynette Stickels in Bangor, Michigan and the two of them raised three children together. Dan retired from Methodist Southlake Hospital where he worked in maintenance. He was a gun enthusiast and he loved history and art. Although he claimed he hated them, animals were naturally drawn to him. His greatest joy was his grandkids and Dan made it a point to be active in all their lives.

He is survived by his wife, Lynette (nee Stickels) O'Brien; son, Jacob (Stormy) O'Brien; daughters, Lydia (John) DaVaney, Laurel (David) Long; grandchildren, Alexus, Madison, Allison, and Olivia; brothers, Joe O'Brien, Tim (Cassy) O'Brien, Bob (Brenda) O'Brien, Chris (Teryl) O'Brien.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Rose O'Brien.

Visitation for Dan will be held Sunday, February 25, 2024, from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, Hobart.
