Daphne J. McConnachie (nee O'Dell) age 89 of Hobart passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010. She was born on March 10, 1921 to the late Clinton and Mary O'Dell. She graduated from Tolleston High School in 1938. She was a Hobart resident since 1962 and was formerly of Gary. Daphne was a wonderful seamstress and homemaker. She was a fabulous cook, baker, and entertainer. She loved gardening and playing cards with friends. Daphne also enjoyed fishing at the cabins in Michigan and Wisconsin.

She is survived by 2 sons, Jeffery (Joni) Hodge of Granger, IN; Richard (Peggy) McConnachie of Chesterton, IN; 3 daughters, Gail (Jerry) Grieger, Patricia (Dean) Phillips, Kathy (Keith) Hunt all of Valparaiso, IN; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Merle Hodge and Murray McConnachie, 1 brother, Douglas O'Dell, 2 sisters, Elnora Zabeilski, and Mary Lou Burns, 1 grandson, Arron Deardruff .

Visitation is Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 600 West Old Ridge Road, (219) 942-2109. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels.
