Darlyne Kathryn (Andrews) Coffman
(January 20, 1935 – November 25, 2025)
Darlyne Kathryn Coffman was born to Kathryn (Tabaka) and Walter Andrews in Outing, Minnesota, on January 20, 1935. She graduated from Remer High School in 1952. While George Coffman and his family were vacationing in Minnesota, Darlyne met the love of her life. They were married in 1953 and began a marriage that would last more than 70 years.
Darlyne was a homemaker for many years before going to work outside the home once her children were grown, holding positions with the March of Dimes, the Lake Station License Bureau, and the office of Dr. Penn. She also played a vital role in helping George run his business, Instant Road Repair.
She was a longtime resident of East Gary/Lake Station until she and George moved to Rittenhouse in Portage in 2018. George passed away in June 2025, and his beloved "Dean" has now joined him, reunited and back on their swing in heaven.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She rarely missed a game, recital, or special event, where everyone knew she would be cheering the loudest. Staying at Grandma's house ("Memaw" to some) remains a treasured memory and a topic of conversation among the grandkids to this day. Darlyne loved children and was an honorary mother and grandmother to many.
She viewed the world through rose-colored glasses, a quality that her family found both endearing and at times, frustrating. But that optimism was a defining part of who she was and what made her so deeply loved.
Darlyne was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents; her sisters Betty, Shirley, Janice, and Barbara; her brother Bob; and her daughter-in-law, Denise.
She is survived by her children: Walter (fiancée Angel) of Valparaiso, Nancy (David) Kadish of Chesterton, and Ronald (Donna) Coffman of Portage; and by her grandchildren: Charessa (Greg) Linman, Anthony (Melissa) Coffman, Robert (Nikkie) Coffman, Kemi Coffman, Alex (Stephanie) Kadish, Julie Kadish, Kristin (Phil) Mulroe, and Doug (Katheryne) Coffman. She is also lovingly survived by many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; her sisters Kay (Dwayne) Boogard of Osakis, Minnesota, and Patty Engen of Remer, Minnesota; and her brother Jim (Bridget) Andrews of Montgomery, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to the charity of your choice, in Darlyne's memory.
