Darryl V. Mikenas, age 53, of Valparaiso, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 at St. Margaret's in Dyer. He was born on October 5, 1961 to Victor Mikenas and Jeri Lach in Gary, Indiana. Darryl worked as a lawn care specialist for Forever Green. He will be remembered for his love of his family, music and writing songs on his beloved guitar or keyboard. One of his real loves was being on Facebook with his "Darrylisms". His sense of humor was one of his best assets! He is survived by his three children, Tabitha (Frank) Josleyn of Highland, Ian (Ashley) Mikenas of Portage and Sara Mikenas of Portage; three grandchildren, Blake, Luke and Alyssa; his mother, Jeri (nee Lach) Mikenas of Valparaiso; brother Jeff (Lesli) Mikenas of Valparaiso; nephew, Garett; nieces, Morgan, Brooke and Lindsay; mother of his children, Chris Corey of Valparaiso, and many other loving family members and friends.
Monetary donations are preferred to the family. Darryl was preceded in death by his father, Victor Mikenas and sister, Laura Jipping. A memorial service for Darryl will be at a later date.
