Daryl Charles Gilbert

Daryl Charles Gilbert, age 58 a longtime Valparaiso resident passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022.  He was born on December 9, 1963 in Avon Park, Florida.  He worked as a Truck Driver for Smith Ready Mix in Chesterton.  Daryl loved camping and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Daphne Gilbert (nee Sauer) of Valparaiso, IN; one daughter, Kayla (Lacey) Gilbert of Portage, IN; his mother, Bettie Gilbert of Valparaiso, two stepchildren, Nicole Hurlburt of Winimac, IN; Ryan Hurlburt of Winimac, IN; one brother, Floyd Elvis (Joni) Gilbert of Michigan City, IN; two sisters, Lisa (James) Johnson of Chesterton, IN; Kristy Gilbert of Schererville, IN; three grandchildren, Tre'Vonta, Jaylynn, and Aaliyah.

He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Edwin Gilbert.

Funeral services are Wednesday October 19, 2022 at 12:30 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Road, Hobart with Rev. Todd Harper officiating.  Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery, Portage.  Visitation is Wednesday, October 19, 2022 just prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel.  (219) 942-2109.
